It’s a been a long time coming, but I finally have a chance to sit down with a nice cup of Earl Grey and recap the ahh-mazing weekend that was the 2014 Camperdown Cruise. Being a vendor, it’s not always easy to get out and see all of the events, with this weekend being especially busy so unfortunately, there isn’t much I can show you from the visitors point of view but Mr Insanity and I still had a great weekend away. A weekend made more awesome being it was the maiden voyage of our gorgeous new (old), vintage caravan – Miss Daisy.
The 2013 Cruise, we stayed in the most beautiful vintage style B&B and Cobden (Heytesbury House) which is a restored 1904 home that was once the hospital of Cobden. With meticulously maintained gardens and a wide porch and verander, perfect for curing up with a book in the cool shade of a warm Summer days and a bathroom bigger than our bedroom at home, this place was an absolute delight to stay in and the breakfast menu was both extensive and SCRUMPTIOUS! The only issue we had was it was about a 30 minute drive from Camperdown which meant getting up a little earlier and extra time to get back at the end of a long day (not to mention, the round trip when we had to head back to town for dinner after we found there were no option for food on Saturday night).
This year, we had to joy of bringing our cute little van which also doubles as a trailer to cart the store from Mornington. The extra room over car boots meant we could bring a much bigger stall as well as mannequins to show of the dress… though it would have helped if we remembered to pack the mannequin stands as well, oops.
We picked the Lakes & Craters holiday park just on the edge of Camperdown to stay as it was nice and close to the action. When we got there, we were damn surprised at where it was actually located and the ahh-mazing views! The park is located right on the edge of a volcano crater with one side looking over Camperdown and beyond with the other side overlooking Lake Bullen Merri which is inside the volcano crater itself.
The first day of the Cruise was INSANE, as always. Sadly I missed out on twirling in the vendor parade as I just couldn’t get away from Glamour Central. It was sooo much fun last year and I’m glad Yum Studio snapped this one of me in the Hell Bunny Melanie dress with a cherry red petticoat peeping out at the 2013 Camperdown Cruise.
On Saturday, I decided to wear the new Dahlia dress from Hell Bunny. I’m not normally a pink or floral girl but I just trialled a new hair colour (Manic Panic “Fuchsia Shock”) and the colour was working perfectly with the pink print. I found it a bit too busy at first but absolutely fell in love once I swapped out the matching belt that came with it for a plain, wide black one. I also added a black headband made from wide piece of satin ribbon (easy peasy!) and finished it with a black (boring, I know) petticoat. If you want to add more colour, the bubblegum pink looks a treat with this print, as well as white, ivory or mint green). Here I am with the gorgeous Nicole in her new Dahlia. It was certainly the darling of the day as we nearly sold out by the end of Saturday!
Unfortunately, we forgot to snap a picture of my Sunday outfit (which is odd as I really am not camera shy!) Mr Insanity is pretty used to hearing “quick, take my picture now so he’s always ready with the camera. I wore the Audrey Hepburn inspired Red Floral 50s Dress and matched it with the black petticoat again (save packing two pettis when wardrobe space is limited!)
I did manage to get out and take LOTS of photos of the gorgeous cars from the Cruise as well as all the pretty ladies in their new pretty dresses from the weekend. You can view the full album of photos from the weekend on our Facebook page here: Camperdown Cruise 2014
Three gorgeous new Hell Bunny dresses have landed in store and and we are in LURVE! Three very distinct prints for very different styles so all events are covered this Spring party season.
The I Heart Zombie zombie design has been around for quite some time but this is the first time Hell Bunny has released them in plus sizes. We jumped on the chance to get them in but they proved to be too popular and we struggled to get the quantity we were after so there is only very limited stock available. It’s fun and cheeky, perfect for for a night out in the city. It’s available in sizes XS – 4XL for $49.95.
The Foxy Swing dress is the second design we’ve stocked in this print. The Foxy Mini is still available in store for $59.95, sizes XS – 4XL. The cute, kissing foxes is such a pretty print, finished with a blue polka dot trim. I can see this one at Spring and Summer weddings, such a nice change from the usual cocktail dresses! It’s available is sizes XS – 4XL for $79.95. It’s paired with a sky blue petticoat in the photo, we also recommend mint green, white or ivory.
The Birdy is a classic 40’s style dress made from a soft and breezy polyester fabric with a gorgeous swish to the skirt. It has a stylized “bow” collar which can be more easy seen on the Mae West dress which is cut from the same pattern but using a plain, blue fabric. It has a beautiful, vintage inspired print of birds with branches and flowers. I can see this one at a more sophisticated fashion event like the Spring Racing Carnival. Paired with a pair of white satin wrist gloves and a pair of TUK ivory Multi-Strap Mary Jane Heels for added va-va-voom, it will surely be a winner on the race track!
Hell Bunny’s new Dahlia dress is perfect for Spring weather – it’s made from a medium weight cotton with 3/4 sleeves for those lovely, sunny but still chilly days and evenings.
Available in sizes XS – 4XL (8 – 22) for $74.95
